How to Use MEITUAN for Food Delivery in China

Two versions of Meituan tutorial, easy to learn

If you plan to go to China, you will realize that is a semi-electronica society, from taking bus to ordering food, you will always need to use your mobile phone

And today I will show you how to use MEITUAN app,.

This tutorial is different from other tutorials, you don’t need to concern the language problem.

Now let’s open your mobile phone and open your App Store then enter these two letters: meituan.

You’ll find an app which looks like this

Then download it and open it, now I will show you how to use it by using my location.

It doesn’t support English edition.

But don’t worry, I will show you two editions. The first one is the Chinese edition who is original. The second one is the English edition, which translate by myself.

1.Log in

Okay, let’s continue, open it , you will see it as below:

You feel confused, right, don’t worry, let me show you the English edition

Now you can understand what it means.

Let’s log it now, press the button “my profile” in the lower right corner of the app.

Then you will see the page below：

Of course, I won’t forget the English edition:

Now, it’s very clear, click the upper left corner to log in, you will see the page below:

You can log in it with your telephone number or Wechat or QQ(an old app supplied by Tencent)

If you don’t register Wechat then I do really suggest you to log in with your telephone number.

It support a lot of areas, you can enter your telephone number to log in.

2,Set your location

At first, you need to set up your location, of course, this app will ask your location too.

Let’s get pack to the first page of the app.

Choose enable location, then it will ask permission of your location info like the picture below.

Choose Only this time or Allow only while using the app to protect your privacy.

But, the app will ask for a general location. You need to set a specific place, like which floor and building it is in.

If it is inconvenient for you to get takeout, you can check for takeout lockers. This is helpful when you are not at home. You can check if there are any takeout lockers around you.

Let me show you how to set your location or change your location. I will also show you how to see if there are takeout lockers around you.

Get back to the first page, click the lower right corner – my profile.

You will see a page like this:

Choose settings, then you will see this page, and open the shipping address.

If you are new to use it, your shipping address will be blank, like this

Click the top right corner to add your detailed address, including the house number.

Choose the select delivery address, you can see the takeout lockers around you, it will also show your location on the map, you can make the address precisely

3, Order a cup of bubble tea

Now it’s time to order a cup bubble tea or a meal,

Let’s get back to the first page, and choose the upper left corner’s kangaroo .

By the way, the upper left corner of the page is your location, I forget to say about it.

Now, choose the takeout (little kangaroo)button, click it, you will see the page below:

They will send you some coupons.When your purchase reaches the price required by the coupon, you can use the coupon for a discount.

Accept all of them. Then choose dessert and drinks. Of course, you can also choose food. I just want to order a bubble tea for now.

As I present, there are a lot of choices for you. They will offer the best choice for most people. If you are tired of making the choice, you can just go ahead with their recommendation.

To trigger the conditions for using the coupon, I decide to buy 2 cups.

Now, you can see the price is 20 yuan, and the deliver fee is 2.6 yuan.

The delivery fee changes according to the time. For example, when you order at night, the delivery fee will be more expensive than during the daytime.

4，Payment

Okay, let’s pay for them now, you will see the page below, it gives you the details of your order, please check:

1, Your location/address

2, Your telephone number

3, Deliver time

4, details of the product

5,Do not forget to use the coupon

Scroll down the page, you will see a page like this:

In the remarks field, you can write some requirements. For example, you want a bag of spice or some sugar in an independent bag. Of course, you need to write it in Chinese. I will teach this in my other videos, so you can follow me.

If you can’t be reached at the specified location, you can provide another location for the delivery man. He can put the takeout there, and you can pick it up as well.

You can note that you need two or three pieces of cutlery. In most situations, you need to pay for them.

And most out situation the bubble tea won’t ask you to pay for that.

If you have already registered WeChat, then you can pay by WeChat Pay. If you haven’t, you can choose more payment methods to add your credit card or pay by Alipay.

Of course Alipay need to be registered too and I do really recommended you to register it.

Choose to add bank card payment, it supports most of credit card, click it and scan your credit card.

Of course, you can use photo of credit to add it too, now you can finish the payment.

5,Waiting for your takeout

After you finish the payment, the delivery man will receive a task. They will then pick up your takeout and send it to you.

You will see the whole process. From the pictures below, you can see the process. The delivery man received the task. He sent the takeout to me.

The deliver man will call you once he arrived to the location you have mentioned on the APP.

If you can’t speak Chinese, don’t worry. You can leave the location of the takeout locker. Alternatively, mention the takeout rack.

Or you can leave a message. Say that you are a foreigner and you can’t speak Chinese. Request them to help you get to a place where someone can assist you.

Don’t worry about missing it. They will send you a photo of your takeout. You’ll find your takeout by the details on the app, for example, the order number.
